Olympian Burak Hasan

The 21st of August 2008 will go down in O.T.C history books as one of the most rewarding and inspiring days. Youngest son of Master Instructor Jemal Hasan, Burak Hasan finally made his Games debut eight years after watching the Sydney Olympics. Hasan, one of the four Australian fighters who had competed this year, had showed great lead-up form after overcoming a painful groin injury which had him off his feet for 3months earlier this year. His debut match was held at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium and his opponent was American-born Peruvian Peter Lopez. After a tough and exhilarating match, the end score was 3:1.

Ranked no.3 in the world, Burak showcased his well known back foot counter technique in the final minutes of his match. His coach Daniel Trenton, a two-time Olympian and silver medallist in the 2000 Olympics claimed that Burak was a rising young star, who has very good physical and tactical attributes and is capable of a great fighting game.

Burak was in Manchester in September 07 at the World Taekwondo Qualification Tournament. Burak displayed a high level of skill, stamina, mental strength and depended on his endurance to win him his fights after 13 hours of immense pressure and concentration in the arena. Burak beat the World Champion competitor from Chinese Tapei, which allowed him to move into the next round of bouts. Burak Hasan became the first Australian Male athlete to bring a medal from World Taekwondo Qualifications in history giving him the ranking of top 3 in the World.

In the last 3 years, Burak has travelled around the globe, took part in some of the most gruelling international training camps, won medals, got extensive press coverage and gained experience that will last him a lifetime.

The valuable experiences Burak gained in his journey will be of great benefit to all the other competitors at OTC as Burak will share and apply all the knowledge and training method practices he gained over the years.

Burak is now back at his home base where he continues to train and prepare for the upcoming events.

O.T.C would like to congratulate Burak on his efforts in representing Australia.
